In realization of PLFs mission, research plays as vital a role as training. The expectations from research efforts are two-fold: to help improve the management of rural development projects; and to augment the existing body of knowledge on the process of rural management. |
| As a result, from the beginning, PLF’s research programme has evolved two discernible streams. |
| One leads to mainstream research where focus is on understanding the operational problems faced by rural organizations in order to help evolve feasible solutions. A great deal on such research is in the form of case research and consultancy projects. |
| The other leads to research on wider issues of socio-economic upliftment of the rural people, especially the rural poor, and the analysis of various interventions being made to bring about such upliftment. |
